Schools in Denver and surrounding metro-area communities took 12 spots in the top 20 in a ranking of high school quality in Colorado. U.S. News & World Report ranked 475 Colorado schools based on how many students took and passed an exam for college credit, such as the Advanced Placement tests; test scores on math and reading; whether those scores were higher or lower than expected, given a school’s demographics; scores among students of color and those from low-incomes families; how many students took more than one exam for college credit; and graduation rates.
